The steps below will fix the following problems:

  • Text message comes in but notification doesn't sound off
  • Apps no longer notifies user of updates, etc.
  • Notification sound not playing even with volume turned all the way up
  • Phone shows it's ringing but ringtone doesn't play (look for Phone or Dialer app)


  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings to open it.
  3. Touch Sounds and notifications.
  4. Under the Notifications section, tap App notifications.
  5. Scroll to and tap on Messages (or any app).
  6. Now feel free to Block / Unblock notifications for the app.
